Booster, Fundraising with CustomInk was an innovative fundraising platform that enables individuals and organizations to raise money by selling t-shirts with a portion of the cost of every t-shirt going to a cause of the organizer’s choice. A creative fundraising solution for schools and nonprofits, Booster wanted to increase their exposure in the nonprofit and education markets.
In the Spring of 2016, Booster started exploring different ways to expand their footprint in the nonprofit market. They wanted a partner with expertise and relationships within the sector so they reached out to Nexus Marketing for assistance with their inbound marketing activities.
Booster had experimented with inbound marketing previously but had limited success. They decided to work with Nexus on an engagement focused on a set of core topics and keywords targeting Booster’s ideal customers.

Through a combination of these key activities, Nexus Marketing was able to significantly improve how Booster’s website ranked for a variety of high-value keywords and grew the amount of referral traffic that the Booster website was receiving.
As a result, Booster increased its exposure to individual fundraisers, nonprofits, and schools which contributed to revenue growth from online marketing channels.
Of the original keyword list agreed upon by Booster and Nexus Marketing, Booster ranked in the top 10 positions for 75% of the keywords on their list and in the top 3 positions for their top 5 keywords.
The new high-quality content on Booster’s website drove considerably more organic visitors, leading to an 891% increase in visitors from search after 12 months.
Through Nexus Marketing relationships in the sector, Booster gained prominent placement on a handful of high-traffic nonprofit websites leading to a 165% increase in visitors from referral websites.
These activities resulted in a 12X increase in inbound leads generated through Booster’s website.
We had worked with inbound marketing vendors in the past but had minimal success. They didn’t understand our target customer or the nuances of selling to the nonprofit market.
